If you are creating a necklace that has spaces between the knots, use segments of a drinking straw to space the knots evenly.

Cut the straw into segments that are the lengths that you want the spaces to be. After you tie one knot, slip the straw onto the cord and then tie the knot at the other end.

After your knots are tied, just cut the straws off and you will have equal spaces between your knots.
